Both teams are in town and while the roads are still on lock down in Atlanta, the game is set to go on as planned. Georgia Tech released the following statement explaining why the game hasn’t been canceled – yet – or could be later on today.
At this time, Wednesday night’s men’s basketball contest between Georgia Tech and North Carolina is expected to be played as scheduled.
Due to scheduling complexities, the ACC Game Postponement/Cancellation policy dictates that the only reason a game should be postponed and/or cancelled is if the conditions affect the safety of the teams or game officials involved. Provided the teams and officials are able to make it to the arena safely, the game will be played.
North Carolina left Chapel Hill on Tuesday and arrived in Atlanta yesterday evening, but because of the winter weather got trapped at the airport. According to News & Observer’s Luke DeCock, the Tar Heels did get to leave the airport this morning and will be playing tonight.
So for now, the game will go on as scheduled barring anymore bad weather and issues.
