UNC Football: Marquise Williams predicts big season for the Tar Heels

The Marquise Williams era at North Carolina arrived earlier than planned when Bryn Renner’s career ended early due to an injury. Heading into the 2014 season Williams is expected to be the starter even after competing with red-shirt freshman Mitch Trubisky for the job.

After a 7-6 season that some would call disappointing despite the tough schedule, Williams is focused on 2014 and predicts a big year for the North Carolina Tar Heels.

So many people said I couldn’t do it some said I wasn’t good enough but I believe in myself. I believe this year will be best year ever for Carolina football #GoHeels

Last season Williams passed for 1,698 yards and fifteen touchdowns. He rushed for 536 yards and 6 touchdowns. Williams even had two receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown.

Should Williams remain the starter in 2014 and not split duties with another quarterback, you can expect him to improve on those numbers from last season.

North Carolina will have four quarterbacks on scholarship next season. Marquise Williams, Kanler Coker, and Mitch Trubisky are returning to the team. Caleb Henderson is expected to sign on National Signing Day after verbally committing to UNC.
