Heading into a rebuilding season under 16 year head coach Mike Fox, the North Carolina Tar Heels have to be optimistic. After losing most of their roster after last season, the Tar Heel will still begin the 2014 season ranked 17th in the country.

Baseball America released their 2014 pre-season rankings earlier today where the Tar Heels were ranked 17th.

The ACC is represented strongly in the polls with six teams in the top-25. Virginia leads the ACC and the country where they ranked No. 1 overall. North Carolina State, Florida State, Clemson, and Miami also represent the ACC in the pre-season rankings in addition to North Carolina and Virginia.

North Carolina went 59-12 last season and finished this season ranked third in the nation. It is a drop of 14 spots, but considering all of the talent that was lost…UNC isn’t in bad shape ranked at 17th.

North Carolina will kick off the 2014 season in a three-game series against the College of Charleston in Chapel Hill. The series begins on Friday, February 14th at 3:00 PM at the Bosh!
