Under the recent struggles for North Carolina, fans have had plenty of criticism for head coach Roy Williams. One that has remained consistent and hasn’t changed over time is over Roy Williams’ recruiting tactics. The latest example of this comes from 2015 shooting guard Isaiah Briscoe.
Briscoe is a 6-3, 200 pound guard from Union, New Jersey. He’s rated as a five-star recruit and ranks 20th overall in the 2015 class. Yet, he has not been on the radar of Roy Williams and North Carolina so far.
The puzzling fact about his recruitment to fans is how an outstanding talent, such as Briscoe, isn’t being looked at by UNC. Some feel that Briscoe could be an easy steal for the Tar Heels too. While he comes from New Jersey, Briscoe is said to be a lifelong fan of North Carolina. Something that easily has come in handy before with Williams and recruiting – Kennedy Meeks.
So if Briscoe has interest and could bring talent to Chapel Hill, why is Williams looking the other way and searching for other recruits?
While I’m not a fan on attacking Williams and his recruiting tactics, I do agree with many readers that Briscoe should be on UNC’s radar. He’s got skill set that could be very useful in Chapel Hill to make a name for himself.
With the clock slowly running down for the 2014 class, it is time for the pressure to go up on the 2015 class as Roy Williams looks to build another stellar class to play in the famed Carolina blue.
