Roy Williams hasn’t closed the books on his 2014 recruiting class yet and is hoping to land one final piece to his puzzle. That piece being five-star shooting guard Rashad Vaughn.
Vaughn nearly committed to UNC last year, but since that near commitment has really cooled of from UNC while becoming a favorite at Iowa State and UNLV. This is not welcoming news for Tar Heels fans who are very high on Vaughn and would love to see him suit up in Carolina blue.
Vaughn recently caught up with Adam Zagoria where he discussed briefly his recruitment and relationships with the coaches:
“I got relationships with all the coaches, so it’s just where I fit in and can get better and play”
Obviously if UNC doesn’t land Vaughn, fans will be disappointed and point the blame immediately to Williams. However, it shouldn’t discourage fans because UNC has a stellar class coming in later this year and will see the freshmen more than likely get plenty of playing time.
Vaughn has offers from twenty-five schools, but is said to be heavily considering UNLV, Iowa State, and Kentucky while North Carolina and Kansas are within striking distance.
