Former North Carolina Tar Heel guard PJ Hairston made his D-League debut Saturday night for the Texas Legends. Hairston lit it up from all over the floor, finishing with 22 points and six steals on the night. You can check out the box score here.

His team beat the Austin Toros 109-99 at home to improve their record to 13-9 on the season, which runs from November to Early April. The Legends will play next on Friday against Rio Grande Valley, and you can watch that game and all the Legends games for free on YouTube.

Its really tough to watch these highlights as a Carolina fan, thinking about what could have been for UNC had Hairston been able to play this season. As you can see from the highlights, he looked really explosive and displayed a great shooters touch on Saturday, and that performance was coming off of around 6 months of rust.

Keeping It Heel will keep you updated on PJ’s performance in the D-League this season. Also follow us on twitter, @KeepingItHeel, for updates.

Huge game for Hairston! He’ll be great in the NBA too.

I wish him well, he will probably be called up in a few weeks. It is really hard to hear or watch, between this and Marshalls injury a couple years ago ends up being 2 really good chances to make the final 4 and possibly another championship lost. These chances don’t come around but so often. Anyway Go Heels!!!
