North Carolina Falls to Syracuse 57-45

North Carolina fell to 0-3 in ACC basketball play with a 57-45 loss on the road against Syracuse. The Heels are now 10-6 on the season following a game in which the Heels looked unmotivated and really noncompetitive with the ACC’s elite team.

Syrcacuse had balanced scoring, with CJ Fair leading the way with 20 points. Four other Orange had double digit scoring efforts, including Jerami Grant, who had a 12 point 12 rebound performance.

James Michael McAdoo and Marcus Paige led the Heels in scoring with 15  and 17 points. The concerning stats were UNC’s 2-12 three point shooting and allowing 16 offensive rebounds for Syracuse. UNC would also finish with 39.2% shooting on the afternoon, including a 7-16 performance from Marcus Paige and a 1-5 performance from Leslie McDonald.

North Carolina looked uninterested and didn’t play with much competitive fire against the Syrcause team. After a competitive start, the Heels were punched in the mouth by a major Cuse run at the end of the first half and never really punched back.

The Heels next two games are at home against Boston College and on the road against Virginia. UNC will try to right the ship that has gone horribly wrong after some promising wins against Kentucky, Michigan State, and Louisville earlier this season.
