Sources: UNC's PJ Hairston likely to enter NBA D-League

Jonathan Givony of Draft Express is reporting that for UNC basketball star PJ Hairston will be entering the NBA D-League’s player poll in the coming weeks. Former Louisville player Chane Behanan is also expected to follow suit with Hairston after being dismissed from the Louisville Cardinals earlier this season.

Hairston was dismissed from the North Carolina basketball program in early December after sitting out the season until that point on suspension. While fellow suspended player Leslie McDonald was allowed to return to the team, days later athletic director Bubba Cunningham and the university held a press conference announcing that Hairston would not be allowed to play this season and was officially dismissed.

Hairston was constantly in the news over the summer after legal issues including an arrest for possession, speeding and just shed a negative spotlight over the UNC basketball team over the summer months.

Hairston’s best options after his dismissal was either joining the D-League or moving overseas and entering the NBA Draft later this year.
