Ryan Switzer has been honored with numerous awards this past season and continues to do so during the off-season. Yesterday, Switzer was awarded the CFPA Punt Returner trophy as the punt returner of the year.

In a news release UNC writes, “According to the CFPA, Switzer produced the strongest punt return performance since the inception of the CFPA program and CFPA Punt Returner Trophy in 2009.”

Switzer had over 500 return yards with 5 return touchdowns in his freshman season at North Carolina. He also set the school record with an average of 20.9 yards per return and led the nation with his five touchdowns.

As reported by UNC, Switzer is only the third Tar Heel to be awarded with CFPA awards. Zach Brown was awarded as Linebacker of the Year in 2011 and Giovani Bernard was the punt returner of the year last year. Obviously, the infamous touchdown against NC State had to stand on his resume!

Switzer returns for his second year at UNC with high expectations, and many people are sure he’ll exceed them all!
