UNC’s most impressive freshman from the 2013 season can add yet another honor to his impressive freshman year resume. Ryan Switzer was named to the FWAA All-American team earlier on Monday morning.
In fact, he actually made two teams named by the FWAA. He was also placed on the FWAA’s All-American freshman team as well.
In just one season, Switzer has already left his impact on Carolina football history and next season he will only add to that early legacy.
In 2013, Switzer had 341 receiving yards for three touchdowns. However, he set school and conference records in punt return stats. Switzer had 502 return yards took five returns back for a touchdown. His longest touchdown was 86 yards.
Switzer was robbed of his first two touchdowns of the season when the offensive line got called on sloppy penalties forcing North Carolina to move backwards instead of scoring the touchdown.
2014 looks to be even more promising for Switzer despite the coaching changes in Chapel Hill. With openings in the wide receiver position on the depth chart, Switzer should be an easy fit as a starter next season in addition to his punt return duties.
