10 Days Til Bowlmas: Leaping Lord Logan

The Countdown to Bowlmas will be a running series on Keeping It Heel leading up to the Belk Bowl on December 28th. The series will recap moments from the season in UNC football from Marquise William’s rise to Ryan Switzer’s amazing returns. We will even roll with the Christmas theme and center our recaps around verses from the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Check back every morning for the daily countdown post, and use #Bowlmas to support the movement on Twitter.

We proudly say today at Keeping It Heel
That we bring you a player profile we feel
Doesn’t get the credit he needs for his feats,
A freshman tasked with filling Gio Bernard-sized cleats,
This player needs press time he needs some respect,
But the NC native gets none until UNC fans inspect
The numbers he’s carried in a spread-offense built team
The stadium knows passing is our sole offensive scheme
He’s risen to the occasion when his number was chosen
It’s time we tip our hats to one, T.J. Logan

He turned down offers from schools far and wide
Said no to USC, Clemson, and Auburn’s full rides
Ignored Tennessee, Ohio State, and Cal
And instead chose the one with the Tar Heel Decal
He didn’t see PT until the fifth game
Because of an injury he suffered in camp when he trained
But he showed coaches he was ready, they didn’t make a mistake
With him on the field UNC won five of their next eight
He averaged 5.8 yards a carry with four end zone finds,
A TD every other game will suited us just fine
He was a strong blocker and a short receiving pass threat
But you knew he could catch and turn on the jets
Coaches were so happy with TJ, they were so merry
The freshman averaged over double digit carries
In all three final games of the season it was no fluke
UNC went two for three, until losing to division champ Duke
But we all know we’re on the right path with Mr. Logan back there
There’s a collective excitement slowly brewing in air
TJ has made the most of a no-win situation
Following an All-American and an injured QB needing re-habilitation
But we’re on the up and up, I can feel it in Chapel Hill
The way we dominated the last couple games oh what a thrill
I hope you see the upside potential I’ve laid out in this old Christmas poem
So here’s to the future with our beast running back Logan
