Ebron, Switzer named USA Today Second Team Standouts

Congratulations to Tar Heels Eric Ebron and Ryan Switzer! These two Tar Heels were named to USA Today’s Second Team All-America squad this afternoon. Ebron was the second team TE, losing first team honors to Jace Amaro of Texas Tech. Switz was named to second team for the returner position in his freshman season.

Eric Ebron is a 6-4 junior for UNC who caught 895 yards on the season. He also added in three touchdowns and averaged over 16 yards per catch. He will declare for the NFL draft after this season and projects to be a mid-first round pick in next year’s draft. Ebron will play his final game for Carolina in the Belk Bowl against Cincinnati.

Ryan Switzer is North Carolina’s freshman sensation punt returner and wide receiver. Switz caught 319 yards and three TDs as a wide out this year, but was much more well known for his punt return abilities. He took a couple punts back to the house in the second half of the season, included two against Pittsburgh in Heinz Field. A three star recruit coming out of high school, Switz emerged as one of UNC’s most dynamic players in the latter half of this season and promises to be an exciting player going forward for the Tar Heels.

The Atlantic Coast Conference had the most All-Americans out of any conference, with 13. Florida State had five of those thirteen standouts, including freshman QB Jameis Winston as first team QB.
