Belk Bowl Fan Guide: Travel and Ticket Info

UNC accepted an invitation to the Belk Bowl in Charlotte on Sunday, and for most Heels fans in the state, the game is only a short drive away. For those of you on the fence about getting tickets and making the drive, or for those committed to go, here is a Belk Bowl fan guide featuring information about the drive down, hotel information and locations, and ticket prices.

Travel Info

The conservative travel estimate from Chapel Hill to Charlotte is about 2 hours. This estimate of course omits an important factor in your decision making for traveling to the game- traffic. Some of you might have nightmares like me from heading back late at night after the 2004, 2008 or 2009 bowl games and getting stuck in terrible traffic on I-85 or 1-95.

The good news this time is that the game is at 2:30 and should wrap up at around 6. If your lucky, you can time it so that you stop for dinner and still not get back too late after the game. It would be a long day, but driving up and back from Chapel Hill would be doable.

For Google maps directions, the official address for Bank of America Stadium is
800 South Mint Street Charlotte, NC 28202.

Hotel Info

The Belk Bowl official website did most of the work for me on this one. This website here offers a complete guide to hotels in the area and which ones are designated “ACC Hotels” and “AAC Hotels.” Don’t ask me how they came up which hotels are for ACC fans and which ones are for American Athletic Fans.

Also, here is a link to Hotwire for deals on hotel rooms in the Charlotte area.
