North Carolina will take on the Cincinnati in the Belk Bowl on Saturday December 28th in Charlotte NC. For most Tar Heel fans in the state, Charlotte is a short road trip away and fans should be coming down for the game. For those of you on the fence about getting tickets and making the drive, or for those committed to go and wondering what the events are leading up to the game, below is a Belk Bowl Fan Guide about some fun things to do.

Fan Events

Belk Bowl Battle of the Bands
Location: NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza
Date: Friday, December 27th
Time: 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Bands from both schools will be on hand to “battle” and play their school’s fight songs in front of each teams fan bases. Come out to cheer on the Marching Tar Heels on the Friday night before the game, and then head out to a restaurant to try and catch the UNC vs. Northern Kentucky basketball game, which is on Friday at 7 o’clock. Also, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is a great family-friendly attraction in Charlotte. You could plan a great family afternoon around a visit to the Hall, and then catching the bands on your way out. Belk Bowl 5k
Location: Uptown Charlotte
Date: Saturday, December 28th
Time: 8:30 a.m.

The Belk Bowl 5K takes place the morning before the game and offers an awesome chance to get some exercise before the big game. For those of you who will be coming into Charlotte overnight, you can get up early and run through downtown Charlotte the morning, then take off your sweaty running close and get ready to tailgate. Or, in other words, loose all the benefits of running the 5K at the tailgate from all the Bojangles and other yummy food one might consume. Still, its a fun event for the morning on gameday.

Belk Bowl Victory Walk
Location: Westin Charlotte
Date: Saturday, Dec. 28th
Time: 1:00PM

Hosted by the Rams Club, come by the team hotel in Charlotte to send the team off with cheers right before the game. You can gather in the lobby at around 12:45 to catch the team as they board the bus to the stadium.

Belk Bowl FanFest
Location: Outside Bank of America Stadium, centered on the corner of Mint St. and Stonewall St.
Date: Saturday, December 28th
Time: 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

The perfect family friendly event for fans of all ages is the Belk Bowl FanFest before the game. You can find great food, games, face-painting and lots of other fun stuff at the event. You can even hear Blake Shelton, who headlines the event and will put on a concert for all the fans. Its a great event right outside of Bank of America Stadium and takes place before gametime, so make sure you get to Charlotte early enough to enjoy the free FanFest.
