The Tar Heels are set to take on the East Carolina pirates next weekend for Military Appreciation Day at Kenan Stadium. The in-state match-up has become a tradition in recent seasons and a game that fans of both schools look forward to.
For East Carolina, things are not looking too good to start off the week. Pirates head coach Ruffin McNeill announced earlier today that the team has indefinitely suspended their starting nose tackle Terry Williams.
This is a huge blow to the Pirates defensive line to lose their two year starter at a key position on the line.
“The expectation for every member of our program has always been that they must earn the right to represent East Carolina University and that they will be held accountable for their actions on and off the field,” McNeill said in a released statement “[Williams] did not adhere to the conduct standards we have in place.”
Williams will obviously not be playing this weekend and his absence will more than likely be noted in Saturday’s game against the Tar Heels. The next six games for ECU are all against conference opponents.
