The North Carolina Tar Heels are looking to complete their 2014 basketball recruiting class and shooting guard Robert Johnson could be making an announcement about his commitment as early as next week.
UNC has already acquired the likes of Theo Pinson, Joel Berry, and Justin Jackson for their 2014 class. However, Roy Williams has a few more offers still standing and if he has pursued Robert Johnson hard enough, could finish up his recruiting class for next season by the end of next week.
The 6-3, 180 pound shooting guard from Richmond, Virginia visited Chapel Hill this past weekend and maybe his experience was enough to seal the deal.
Johnson is entertaining offers from the Florida State Seminoles, Indiana Hoosiers, Virginia Cavaliers, Pittsburgh Panthers, North Carolina Tar Heels, and several other schools. However over the weekend, which he spent on North Carolina’s campus, he got the chance to meet with the coaches, current players, and experience campus lifestyle. He also got to attend North Carolina’s season opening football game at Kenan Memorial Stadium.
Should Johnson commit, it could very well mean that Rashad Vaughn (who has picked up some interest again in UNC) will move on and decide on other schools including the Kentucky Wildcats and Minnesota Gophers.
It is widely expected that head coach Roy Williams is only looking to add one more player to his class, thus why Johnson’s potential commitment next week could wrap things up for the Tar Heels.
