PJ Hairston Pleads Guilty to Speeding Charge

North Carolina’s leading scorer from last year has found himself in the news constantly this summer. Today, it’s a bitter-sweet news headline for returning junior guard PJ Hairston. Hairston by passed the NBA to return to UNC again this fall.

Today, Hairston pleaded guilty to a speeding charge which was reduced from a reckless driving charge that was given last month. Hairston was charged with reckless driving after being clocked at 93 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour zone on Interstate 85.

Hairston was charged with possession of marijuana earlier this summer before that was dropped too.

From WFMY:

Rowan County District Judge Kevin Eddinger accepted the plea Tuesday for driving 75 mph in a 65 mph zone from attorney T. Gregory Jones. Hairston, who didn’t attend the hearing, was required to pay a $40 fine and court costs.

Hairston’s status with the team has been up in the air all summer long with his continuous troubles. Just a few weeks ago, Bubba Cunningham announced that Hairston would play, with Hairston himself telling the Daily Tar Heel the same thing.
