Fan Reaction: Romar Morris Named Starter, Not AJ Blue

Monday evening it was announced that Romar Morris would be the starting running back for Coach Fedora’s North Carolina Tar Heels rather than AJ Blue. That doesn’t surprise some, but there was also a rather large feeling around the fan base that AJ Blue’s seniority would land him the starting job. Obviously that wasn’t the case!

September 15, 2012; Louisville, KY USA; North Carolina Tar Heels running back Romar Morris (21) runs the ball for a touchdown against the Louisville Cardinals during the second half of play at Papa John

So, Keeping It Heel wanted to hear what you had to say and we reached out to our friends on Facebook to hear what you had to say!

Glenn Gillen: Not a huge issue since Blue is reportedly banged up a little. Bigger question is whether or not we’ll see any of the stud Freshmen RBs or they redshirt.

Snapper Newman: We going to need all our backs , what’s the big deal starting or coming in, it’s a team effort Blue has some bumps and bruises but will play , so it’s a great move

Heath Brown: After watching morris carry a few last year … that’s no surprise. That kids got speed and is very quick

Norman Hall: No big deal. Blue missed some camp banged up a little. Romar will be introduced as the starter, but after that the position is wide open.

Gary Meyer: If Morris got most of the reps b/c of injuries to Blue, it’s the right move.

Gary Taylor: It hurt a little losing gio but watching romar last year when he played were going to be fine, romar will rush for over 1000 yards this year!

Nothing against Blue, he is very talented back. But I kept saying last year that I thought Morris was underused in the backup position. He was so fast getting around the end that I can see him hitting space and being gone!

Good call but I feel like we’ll see a lot of Blue as well.
