We’re just a few weeks shy of the start of the 2013 football season, but right around the corner is the upcoming basketball season. This year the Tar Heels are having to prepare for some new faces they haven’t played on a regular basis as three teams have joined the ACC this summer: Notre Dame, Pitt, and Syracuse.
Per the annual tradition, the talent of the Big Ten will challenge the talent of the ACC in basketball and this year’s schedule has officially been released. The Challenge will take place on December 3rd and 4th.
This year will feature fourteen teams that competed in last year’s NCAA Tournament: Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pitt, Syracuse, and Wisconsin.
We even have a couple of Big Ten vs. ACC match-ups that are tied up and need a tie breaker. North Carolina and Michigan State each have two wins against each other in the challenge and are scheduled to break that tie breaker this year. Minnesota and Florida State also have two wins a piece against each other in the challenge. They will meet again this year too.
