PJ Hairston's Charges Dropped

News was first reported on Friday and confirmed this morning, by a Durham Court Clerk, that the charges from PJ Hairston’s arrest on June 5th have been dismissed.

This is certainly welcomed and refreshing news for Tar Heel fans who have been assuming the worst since the event first took place last month. Hairston was charged with a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana and driving without a license.  There was also question that a 9 mm hand gun found outside the GMC Yukon PJ was driving may have been his.

According to a forensics report, the gun had in fact not belonged to Hairston and after showing his vaild driver’s license and completing a drug assessment, the court decided not to proceed with any further action against the star wing player.

There are still some questions surrounding the GMC Yukon that was rented by Catinia Farrington who shares an address with Thomas “Fats” Hadyn who has been linked to Hairston throughout this process. Hairston also has an August 2nd court date for a speeding ticket he received while driving a Camero that was also rented by Farrington.

Roy issued his statement on PJ earlier this month stating that he and PJ have had several discussions and that there would be serious consequences coming his way, but that he’d hold off on his decision until all the facts came in. With this recent news of dropped charges, one could assume that Roy is close to having what he needs to make that call.
