2013 UNC Football: Sean Tapley Season Preview

The 2013 season looks to be a promising one for the Tar Heels, even though some core players have moved on to the NFL. Giovanni Bernard, Jonathan Cooper, Sylvester Williams, and Erik Highsmith are among those who have left. Regardless, it still looks to be a promising year. Quarterback Bryn Renner will be going into his senior season, and he will have a majority of his receiving core returning for next season. Quinshad Davis and Sean Tapley will be the top Wide receivers, alongside star Tight End Eric Ebron. It is safe to say Quinshad Davis and Eric Ebron will have good seasons, but what about Sean Tapley?

Wide Receiver Sean Tapley will be going into his Junior year, and looks to have a good season. Tapley tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns last year with 5, along with 26 receptions, and 361 yards. Tapley did well with 5 TD’s, but he did that very quietly. He was kind of forgotten about by opposing defenses. Having to worry about Erik Highsmith, Quinshad Davis, Eric Ebron, and running back Giovanni Bernard, they made it very easy to forget about Sean Tapley.

With the departure of Erik Highsmith, expect Tapley’s reception and yard total to increase. Four receptions was his game high last season, while doing it 3 different times. QB Bryn Renner depended on finding Tapley in the end zone last year, but he can expect to see more of Sean Tapley this season. He will be more of a focal point for Renner, and he will have more targets and receptions. The 2013 season looks to be promising for Wide Receiver Sean Tapley, and the rest of the Tar Heel team.
