In case you have been counting, you would know that the 2013 UNC Football season is now under 60 days away. The opening game of the season will be an away game on August 29th against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

There may be up to 125 different players on a college football team roster. There can only be 11 on the field at one time of course, but they all play a very important role. Each and every player is important. Some are more important than others, but that doesn’t make the others less important.

While losing several key pieces to the NFL Draft last year, the Tar Heels will need all hands on deck. Giovani Bernard, Jonathan Cooper, Sylvester Williams, and Erik Highsmith are some of those that have left. Here is a look at 5 of the most important players for Head Coach Larry Fedora this season.

5. Travis Hughes
Travis Hughes is going into his Junior season, and he will be a big part of the defense this season. He will be one of the big leaders for the Linebackers this year. Expect a big season from Travis Hughes. The Tar Heels will need every bit of it.
