With the uncertain future PJ Hairston in the air, the North Carolina Tar Heels are taking a look at Penn State Nittany Lions transfer Jermaine Marshall.

Marshall is a 6’4″ and 200 pound shooting guard from Lewisberry, Pennsylvania. He was Penn State’s No. 1 three point shooter last year and has excellent range.

Sound familiar? It should. He’s very athletic and can be compared to our very own PJ Hairston.

This should all but make sense to you with North Carolina uncertain of Hairston’s future pending a criminal and NCAA investigation. The best news about Marshall’s tranfer from Penn State is that he is eligible to play this fall. So should Hairston be dismissed, the Tar Heels have a solid back up plan…of course if they land Marshall.

Marshall had all eyes set one going to play in Europe, but that has changed recently. He is suppose graduate from Penn State in August, and he’s eligible to play Division I basketball for another school immediately as a grad student. Now he eyes a transfer to another school and why not North Carolina? A winning tradition with history and great exposure for a young talented player to make a name for himself.

He is currently considering Creighton, North Carolina, Florida State, and Arizona State according to Jon Rothstein.

Based on that list, one would think North Carolina is the leading school. Of course Marshall who has received a call from the Tar Heels will probably be keeping his decision quiet until Hairston’s status is known for the upcoming season.
