In the last eight days, Larry Fedora and the North Carolina Tar Heels have landed six huge recruits. It’s been a huge week for Fedora who saw his 2014 class ride from outside of the top-30 to 21st in 247 Sports’ composite rankings.
The final surge comes from the commitment of Avery Edwards. Edwards has been Carolina’s No. 1 priority at the tight end position who committed to the Tar Heels “officially” on Tuesday.
The 6’5″, 280 pound tight end from Raleigh actually knew that he was going to be a Tar Heel before he made it official. He told the coaches that he was going to be a Tar Heels, but wanted to make it official and officially tell the coaching staff with his parents. With six commitments in the past week Coach Walt Bell has been on a hot streak on the recruiting trail.
Edwards accepted his offer from the Tar Heels over some other big programs including Arkansas, Florida State, Louisville, NC State, and Virginia. A few other schools also offered Edwards, but the smaller programs were not successful in recruiting him.
Now with Edwards’ commitment, the 2014 class for North Carolina jumps into the top-20. With a long period of time remaining in the recruiting year, how much better can this team get for Fedora before it’s all said and done!
