Well summer has begun for most college students and shortly after that means one thing…FOOTBALL! So to get you ready for another exciting of North Carolina football led by Larry Fedora, the staff here at Keeping it Heel will be doing player profiles to get you familiar or re-familiar with some of the faces that will led our team to a Carolina Victory!

Next up we highlight the projected starting running back for next season, AJ Blue. Blue served as a backup running back to Gio Bernard the last few seasons. Now a senior, Blue will get his chance to run the running attack of the Tar Heels.

Last season behind Bernard and alongside Romar Morris, he rushed for 433 yards and scored nine touchdowns. In his first career game as a starter for UNC he set a career high record of 106 yards.

As a sophomore, Blue ran for 133 yards and scored just one touchdown. He also scored his first career touchdown that season against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

After being recruited as a quarterback, he made his first appearence as a tailback in his freshman season (2009) against Georgia Southern. He suffered a major injury and would be given a red shirt for the following season as he recovered. He did play as a quarterback in the first six games that seasons.

Now, Blue will lead Morris and freshman TJ Logan behind Bryn Renner and the rest of the North Carolina offense.
