Yesterday, the National Basketball Associated announced the 2012-1013 All-Rookie Team rosters. Two Tar Heels very familiar to fans found themselves on the rosters.
Harrison Barnes who finished sixth in Rookie of the Year polling qualified for the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Barnes was drafted by Golden State last year and has found some very early success in the NBA. He is averaging 9.2 points per game, 1.2 assists per game, and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Joining Barnes on the All-Rookie First Team is: Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, Anthony Davis, and Dion Waiters.
The second Tar Heels to earn this honor was Tyler Zeller who was named to the NBA All-Rookie’s Second Team roster. Zeller has begun his professional career with the Cleveland Cavaliers. This season he is averaging 7.9 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game.
Along side Zeller sits Andre Drummond, Jonas Valanciunus, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Kyle Singler on the second team roster.
Barnes has found a great deal of success early on, but his team has also relied on him and given him more opportunities. Barnes in his first season in the NBA and with Golden State has made the playoffs. Earlier in the playoffs he had a twenty-six points career high game against the San Antonio Spurs!
Zeller on the other hand is having to prove himself and earn more time still.
