Former Mentor High School (Ohio) teammates will once again be teammates. Freshman quarterback Mitch Trubisky will reunite with his former high school teammate next season when he is joined by incoming freshman (for 2014) Brandon Fritts.
Fritts announced his recruitment decision Monday night via Twitter. He tweeted, “Glad to say i am Officially committed to the University of North Carolina! #tarheelnation #blessed!” Shortly afterwards he tweeted thanks to his fans and supporters, “Just wanted to thank everyone who congratulated me all at once, couldn’t be more thankful for the support! It feels great to be a tar heel!”
Fritts is a three-star wide-receiver and tight end. North Carolina recruited him as a tight end, but he will be utilized very well in the Fedora Spread offense used by the Tar Heels.
Fritts had offers extended to him from Akron, Bowling Green, Minnesota, and Toledo as well.
His commitment to North Carolina comes just weeks after being given an offer from the university and Fedora’s coaching staff. He was recruited by Blake Anderson and Walt Bell. He was fresh off a visit from the campus as well as Duke University too.
I’m sure Trubisky is excited about having a familiar face to throw to!
