Last night the Tar Heels hosted a unique event. The Rammy Awards! It’s an event where the school honors is athletes. It had never happened before, but it could very well be something that becomes a tradition!
Fellow editor Matt Hamm described the event: “Winners of each award were called up the stage in a awards-show-style program. Complete with students running the show, live music from Benton Moss of the Diamond Heels. What it provided in the short term was a fun night to recognize UNC Tar Heels athletics, gave the kids a fun night and added to the memory of being a Tar Heel.”
Baseball’s Skye Bolt was recognized as the best newcomer. Rightfully so too, might I add.
He’s made an immediate impact offensively and defensively. His efforts have rallied the Diamond Heels to one of the most impressive starts in the team’s history.
Don’t think Bolt deserved it? I’d disagree with you!
He was drafted in last year’s MLB draft by the Washington Nationals. Recruiters always noted his batting as his strength. He has a smooth swing that brings a lot of power when he follows through. That has continued in Chapel Hill, and he has continued to improve on it.
