ACC In The 2013 NFL Draft
It began on Thursday night, when former UNC guard Jonathan Cooper was taken by the Arizona Cardinals with the seventh pick of the 2013 NFL Draft. By the end of that night, six players from current ACC teams – and another from Syracuse – had been taken in the first round. On Friday, six more ACC football alums were taken rounds two and three. Michael Jordan marries model Yvette Prieto in Palm Beach wedding
Michael Jordan got married over the weekend, with Tiger Woods, Spike Lee and Patrick Ewing among those attending the NBA Hall of Famer’s wedding in Palm Beach, Fla. Jordan married 35-year-old former model Yvette Prieto on Saturday, manager Estee Portnoy told The Associated Press on Sunday. The 50-year-old Jordan owns the Charlotte Bobcats. Casey Barth signs with Atlanta Falcons
Sometimes it’s to a player’s advantage not to be drafted. That’s how things worked out for Casey Barth on Saturday. Instead of being tied down to a specific team as a late-round pick, the Wilmington native was able to choose between several offers as an undrafted free agent. For Barth, a kicker from North Carolina and Hoggard High, that turned out to be the Atlanta Falcons. (Wilmington Star News)

Isaiah Hicks named N.C.’s Mr. Basketball
Oxford Webb’s Isaiah Hicks is Mr. Basketball in North Carolina. The Charlotte Observer has handed out the award to the top senior basketball player in North Carolina since 1985. Hicks, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward, led Oxford Webb to the N.C. 3A championship and was named 2012-13 Gatorade North Carolina Boys Basketball Player of the Year. He is a McDonald’s All-American committed to North Carolina. (Charlotte Observer)

UNC watches Rashad Vaughn as transfer rumors swirl
Rashad Vaughn, the No. 1-ranked shooting guard in the class of 2014, acknowledged after Friday night’s EYBL game that he could play his senior season at Huntington Prep (W.Va.). North Carolina assistant Hubert Davis and Kansas assistant Norm Roberts watched Vaughn play Friday, and those were two of the schools he specifically mentioned after the game. Vaughn said he’s hosted UNC, Kansas, Baylor and Minnesota for recent in-home visits. (Next Cats)

RB Elijah Hood commits to Notre Dame
ESPN 150 running back Elijah Hood (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) took a visit this weekend, and that was all it took. “Officially committing to The University of Notre Dame!” the nation’s No. 8 running back wrote Sunday on Twitter after visiting South Bend, Ind. Hood, a four-star prospect ranked No. 49 overall in the ESPN 150, chose the Fighting Irish over his other top choice, North Carolina. (ESPN.com)
