The North Carolina Tar Heels have just begun putting the pieces in place for their early 2014 football recruiting class. Now, they’ve already got the first piece of the class of 2015 puzzle locked in place. Almost!
The six foot, three inch tall wide receiver Jaason Lewis has turned some heads in his recruiting process, but has really impressed the Tar Heels coaching staff. His head recruiter, Coach Randy Jordan, has really made an impression on Lewis.
On Monday evening, Lewis decided to announce (really earlier, might I add) that he has committed to the University of North Carolina as the first recruit in the 2015 class. However, the university released a statement later that evening announcing they did not except his commitment just yet.
Somewhere there was some miscommunication, but North Carolina was not ready to accept as they are still learning about Lewis on the academic side of things.
The interest on both sides is very high and favorable, but some more issues need to be cleared. Odds are, he will still commit to UNC once everything is cleared.
The only other school that could potentially “steal” Lewis is Florida State, but Lewis is very much interested in North Carolina and is impressed by their coaching staff.
