According to our Recruiting Insider John Finlayson here at KIH, Roy Williams officially offered Harry Giles, a 6-8 forward out of High Point, NC. Inside Carolina and Tar Heel Illustrated both confirmed the offer as well which officially made it the earliest scholarship offer for a player of Roy Williams career at North Carolina. Giles is a product of the class of 2016 and is just a 14 year old freshman from Wesleyan Christian Academy.
Giles is an explosive forward that can do it all. He can score both above and around the rim and he is a force defensively. I’m also impressed with his ability to run the floor and finish in transition which will undoubtedly be an essential trait to have in order to play at UNC. Giles is the first in his class to receive an offer and it should be expected that more offers will come behind Carolina’s. There are definitely other big programs looking at Giles as a potential player in their systems including Duke and Kentucky.
I’d be quite surprised if Giles were to commit anytime soon, but he’s already visited UNC twice unofficially and they should be high up on his list. Giles is a teammate of Theo Pinson who also has an offer out with UNC.
