D’Angelo Russell of Montverde, Florida became the fourth shooting guard and fifth perimeter player to receive an offer from the Tar Heels in the 2014 class. Russell joins other consensus 5-star prospects Theo Pinson, Rashad Vaughn, Devin Booker and Justise Winslow in a prestigious group holding the honor of an offer from UNC. North Carolina head coach Roy Williams officially offered Russell on Friday night after watching him during a workout Friday.
Roy is said to be seeking just one more perimeter player to go along with commit SF Justin Jackson the sheer number of offers UNC has out there however suggest that he may be open to taking more than that. Russell is ranked as the #1 shooting guard prospect in the country by Scout.com
Russell can really shoot the basketball and is very smooth, reminds me a lot of Wayne Ellington. Not very physically imposing but possesses a high basketball IQ and a ton of talent and potential to grow his game. D’Angelo will get a taste of what it could be like to play with commit point guard Joel Berry this summer when they will play on the same EYBL team.
