UNC Basketball: P.J. Hairston Will Return For His Junior Season

North Carolina head coach Roy Williams said that he felt all three of the Tar Heels top players including James Michael McAdoo, Reggie Bullock and P.J. Hairston would come back to Chapel Hill next season.   So far Roy is one for one with P.J. Hairston announcing that he is staying at Carolina for this junior season.

Hairston had this to say about his return:

“I have spent a lot of time with my family over the past couple of days discussing school and my future and I have decided to return to the University of North Carolina for my junior year,” said Hairston.  “I value the experiences I have had over the past two years in Chapel Hill, and hope to continue to grow under Coach Roy’s guidance. Coach always says ‘When you focus on the team during the season, I will support you in the off-season.’ This is my way of supporting coach, my teammates and the Tar Heel community. Go Heels!” Go

Hairston was a key to the Tar Heels turnaround this season with a small ball lineup that featured P.J. as the starting “power forward” for UNC.  As for the others McAdoo’s decision is expected to take at least another week and Bullock hasn’t set a public timetable.  Despite the late run by the Heels, nobody from this past seasons roster would have been drafted in the top 25, with a good chance that one or two could go in the second round.
