Donald Williams: A Final Four Star, and a Mere Footnote
When people reflect on the Fab Five’s last game together, they tend to focus on the Chris Webber gaffe, overlooking Donald Williams, the North Carolina player who was the star of the game. Williams scored the last 4 points in the Tar Heels’ 77-71 victory, making the two technical free throws and also the two free throws after Michigan fouled on the ensuing possession. (New York Times)

Vince Carter joins elite company
Vince Carter became the 15th player in NBA history to reach 22,000 points, 5,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists with the second of his eight assists against the Kings. The list of players reaching that threshold is an impressive one: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, and John Havlicek, among others. Kendall Marshall finds groove, but it may be too late
Halfway through a rookie year, an NBA player often hits a wall physically, emotionally or mentally. Suns rookie Kendall Marshall had played a half-season, 41 games, entering Friday night’s game but is just getting started as the season is about to end in 11 days. Marshall was not a full-time part of the rotation until February, which will leave him still going through the rookie experience into next season. (AZ Central)
