Being an All-American is a rather prestigious award in college athletics and often Tar Heel athletes find themselves on these rosters. Earlier this week, the Freshman All-American roster was released and Marcus Paige found his name on it.
Paige was named on the freshman All-American roster for 2012-2013 which will give him a spot on the 2013 Kyle Macy Freshman All-American team.
Paige already has earned a spot on the ACC All-Freshman Team after scoring 8.2 points per game and 4.6 assists per game. He also earned ACC All-Academic honors too.
Paige was fourth in scoring for North Carolina this season and third in the ACC in assists.
Also named to the fresman All-American team was: Kyle Anderson (UCLA), Ryan Arcidiacono (Villanova), Anthony Bennett (UNLV), Sim Bhullar (New Mexico State), John Brown (High Point), Omar Calhoun (Connecticut), Jahii Carson (Arizona State), Semaj Christon (Xavier), Damyean Dotson (Oregon), Olivier Hanlan (Boston College), Gary Harris (Michigan State), Danuel House (Houston), R.J. Hunter (Georgia State), Ben McLemore (Kansas), Shabazz Muhammad (UCLA), Nerlens Noel (Kentucky), Paige (North Carolina), Glenn Robinson III (Michigan), JaKarr Sampson (St. JohnÂ¹s), Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State) and D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Georgetown).
Paige is expected to return to Chapel Hill in the fall for his sophomore season where he is also expected to return as the starting point guard for the second consecutive season.
