Larry Fedora and North Carolina Tar Heels are getting an early start on their 2015 football recruiting efforts. They are pursuing quarterback Tyler Queen from Kennesaw, Georgia.
Queen is currently the quarterback for North Cobb High School. In 2011 he threw for 1,420 yards and seventeen touchdowns. Last season he threw for 2,607 yards, rushed for 942 yards. He scored forty-three touchdowns all together with twenty-three passing touchdowns and twenty rushing touchdowns.
He is dual threat quarterback and he suits the Fed-Spread offensive to the “t.”
So far he has only received two offers. One from North Carolina and the other comes from Middle Tennessee State University.
He has visited the University of Georgia on numerous occasions including their Junior Day festivities. He has yet to receive an offer from the Bulldogs, but has a clear and obvious interest in their program. He has also attended the University of Alabama for a football camp.
In December at the conclusion of the season he was named the Cobb County Offensive Player of the Year.
The offer has apparently caught Queen off-guard. He claims he had been talking with the staff in previous months, but wasn’t expecting to be offered a scholarship so early. With his first major division-one offer made, expect more schools to follow the Tar Heels in offers.
