UNC Baseball: Tar Heels Narrowly Escape VCU

The North Carolina Tar Heels baseball team is continuing a run of dominance that is just impressive. Sitting at 22-1 overall on the season, North Carolina is poised for a national championship.

Last night they welcome the VCU Rams to the Bosh in what turned out to be a tough battle for the Tar Heels. The only loss on the season came against Miami a couple of weeks ago.

It looked as if North Carolina was going to lose their second game of the season as they entered the the ninth inning down a run. They managed to rally in a run to tie the game to send it to extra innings.

In extra innings Cody Stubbs hit an RBI single to score the winning run that gave the Heels the 3-2 victory.

In the fourth inning Chaz Frank hit an RBI hit to send Brian Holberton home to give them the early 1-0 lead. After that, VCU just kept the Heels from getting much if anything going on offense.

Skye Bolt was the only Tar Heels who kept finding a way to reach the bases. He was walked three times and had two singles.

Tonight, the Tar Heels look to keep the winning ways going tonight when they play Winthrop.
