Today the North Carolina Tar Heels baseball squad is taking care of business against Boston College. The series originally scheduled to take place in Boston College, but weather moved it to Chapel Hill where the teams were having to schedule the first two games for today in a double header.
It was a evenly matched up game for the first four innings, but then the strength of North Carolina took charge. Mike Zolk slapped a nice pitch right over the third baseman and gave UNC the 1-0 lead. Then Matt Roberts laid down a bunt, that turned into a huge scoring play for North Carolina with the Eagles couldn’t communicate on the play.
In the following inning Skye Bolt doubled and then ran in on an RBI single from Cody Stubbs. Brian Holberton then came to hit and made the game much worse for Boston College when he a three-run home run to put the Tar Heels up 7-0. North Carolina would score one more run before the inning came to a close with an 8 run advantage.
In the eighth inning, it got even more ugly for the ACC’s worst team, Boston College. North Carolina would add on three more runs to take the 11-0 lead.
It was a good start for a busy and exhausting day for the Diamond Heels. The second game against Boston College will start at 3:00 p.m. approximately.
