UNC Football: 2013-2014 Football Schedule Released

The Tar Heels Football team’s official schedule for the 2013-2014 schedule was officially released this afternoon. The Tar Heels will, once again, be eligible for postseason play this season and will look to defend their Coastal Division title behind second year head coach Larry Fedora.

The Tar Heels will boast a veteran offensive unit that’s led by senior quarterback Bryn Renner and a plethora of wide receivers that can make plays down the field. The big question mark of course that still remains is how will the Tar Heels be able to replace the value that Gio Bernard held for them in the backfield? With Spring Practice beginning, we should get several preliminary answers to that question as well as others that surround the team from a defensive stand point.

There are several games of interest on the new schedule most notably of course is the season opener which will be on Thursday Night in Columbia, SC against the University of South Carolina. This game will mark the college football opener in general and will include the Gamecocks for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The Tar Heels also get another Thursday Night game when they host Miami on October 17th in Chapel Hill.

The Tar Heels bye weeks occur on September 14 and October 12. The first open date proceeds Georgia Tech and the second proceeds the aforementioned Miami game.

One last game of interest that sticks out is the new addition of the Pittsburgh game who came from the Big East with Syracuse to join the ACC. Pittsburgh is in the Coastal Division and they’ll take on the Tar Heels on November 16th at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh this season.

The entire schedule is as follows:
