P.J. Hairston continued to dazzle in his latest performance scoring 29 points in as many minutes. In three starts this season Hairston is averaging 22.3 points per game and has scored 52 points in his last 63 minutes. Before finally being inserted into the starting lineup Hairston was among the leaders in points per minute, since being extended the playing time he deserves, he hasn’t slowed down a bit. The Tar Heels needed Hairston after a slow start offensively he contributed to a first half comeback that saw UNC down by as many as ten in the first half to tie the game at 40 at halftime. Hairston had 14 points at the break.
In the second half, UNC came out firing on all cylinders and never looked back led by you guessed it P.J. Hairston. Hairston was terrific on both ends of the floor providing much more than just a scoring punch. P.J. finished with seven rebounds and was credited with a steal and played tough defense playing mostly at the power forward position.
Hairston’s final line 29 points on 8-14 shooting including 6-12 from three, 7-8 from the free throw line, seven rebounds including two offensive giving him nine offensive rebounds in the last two games.
