Three star safety Korrin Wiggins of Durham, NC has signed his letter of intent to play college football for the Clemson Tigers.
Wiggins chose to play for Clemson over UNC and Ohio State after reopening his recruitment. Wiggins is a high school teammate of running back Khris Franciswho has already enrolled at Carolina. The HS teammates committed on the same day in early February and while Francis’ commitment never wavered; Wiggins began to have second thoughts and officially reopened his recruitment in January.
After reopening his recruitment Wiggins remained a soft verbal commit with Carolina while also considering Ohio State and Clemson.
Wiggins took visits to Ohio State on 11/24, Clemson on 1/11 and UNC on 1/18
Wiggins was the only real mystery on National Signing Day for UNC and he entered the day considered a “soft verbal commit” to Carolina. The program remained faithful that he would end up coming to Chapel Hill despite opening up his recruitment.
Technically players don’t have to sign on NSD and can still commit later but this looks like UNC will actually leave a scholarship on the table despite sanctions against the program reducing their available scholarships.
