Defensive End Mikey Bart of Buford, GA has signed his letter of intent to play college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Bart chose to play for Larry Fedora at UNC after previously committing to South Florida as a tight end, Bart was recruited to play DE for the Tar Heels. UNC offered Bart in June, he also had offers from Cincinnati, South Florida, Southern Miss, and Syracuse. Bart committed to South Florida in November but flipped his commitment once UNC showed stronger interest and recruited him as a DE.
Bart makes two signees for North Carolina? The defensive line is crowded despite the loss of Sylvester Williams. Bart is one of four DE’s and five overall DL in the 2013 recruiting class for UNC. Bart will have stiff competition his freshman season for playing time with four star prospects Dajuan Drennon and Nazair Jones and fellow three star prospect Marquis Haynes coming in the same class. UNC is also looking to potentially add three star prospect DT Demetri McGill after Maryland pulled his scholarship to join four star Greg Webb at the position.
Fedora is trying hard to build up the DL and almost had concensus five star DE Carl Lawson in for a visit before he cancelled at the last minute the last weekend in January. They are also in the running for Da’Shawn Hand one of the top prospects in the 2014 class.
