Basketball Recruiting: 2014 PF Trey Lyles to Visit UNC

Consensus five star prospect power forward Trey Lyles of Indianapolis, IN the #5 rated overall player in the 2014 class is planning to visit Chapel Hill.  Lyles was once an Indiana commit and has visited Louisville and will take trips to Butler and Kentucky has interest in possibly becoming a Tar Heel also.

Lyles’ recruitment is wide open at this point as he also indicated he will try and visit Duke, UCLA and Florida as well.  This season Lyles is averaging s averaging 22 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists.  He’s extremely versatile and although his 6-foot-11, 248-pound frame suggests the PF or center positions he has played the perimeter often for his high school team and is able to do whatever is necessary.

Lyles visited Louisville this past weekend and will visit both Butler and Kentucky this weekend.  After those visits he will likely wait until his season is over in March to make any other visits.

Back in September Lyles received an in home visit from Roy Williams but reiterated that Indiana was his top choice.  He is a favorite amongst UNC fans who have long clamored for a full court press for his services.  The Heels have concentrated on perimeter players in the 2014 class after receiving a commitment from point guard Joel Berry.  The long big man they have offered is top center Jahlil Okafor thus far.
