Three star Wide Receiver Johnathan Alston of Bunn, NC has committed to play college football for the North Carolina State Wolfpack over UNC.

Alston chose to play for NC Stat over Arkansas, East Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee with reported interest from Georgia Tech and Wake Forest.

Alston was down to UNC and NC State where combined he has made his last six visits, four of which were to UNC (9/1, 9/22, 10/27, 2/2/13) State visits included (8/18, 1/25/13)

Alston’s wingspan and sheer size make him an imposing figure and is a tough cover for any defense.  He’s shown the ability to get separation down the field on deep routes and muscle his way inside on short yardage routes.  Very good in the red zone, almost looks like a tight end sometimes when operating within tight spaces.

Good leaping ability, long arms and above average speed make him ideal for the next level and an NFL prospect. Alston plays both ways in HS and recorded 67 tackles as a junior.  He is not expected to compete on defense at the next level.  He could stand to improve his route running and execution coming across the middle.  His break on the ball is pretty good and he’s shown the ability to fight through press and get the better of physical corners.
