UNC Basketball: P.J. Hairston’s Status Improving; Doubtful for Saturday’s Game Against VT

Goheels.com North Carolina’s official athletics site is reporting that P.J. Hairston’s status is improving and they are listing his status for Saturday’s game as doubtful.

During Carolina’s 82-70 win Tuesday night over the Boston College Eagles Hairston suffered a scary injury in the first half after lighting it up from the field and scoring 14 quick points. Dexter Strickland jumped into Hairston with Boston College attacking the basket left Hairston laying on the floor, when he got up he had to be helped by two teammates and Hairston stumbled around obviously dazed from his head hitting the floor, teams were sent to their bench and medical personnel came in. The situation became tense and even Hairstons Mom came out on the floor, eventually a stretcher took him off the court.

Hairston returned to the bench with 11 minutes left in the game, a very relieving sign for anyone who watched him stumble I thought he would be headed to the hospital. He was later escorted back to the locker room. P.J. tweeted later that night that he was okay and just had a bad headache.

“We’re certainly pleased that P.J. is feeling better, but it is unlikely that he will play on Saturday,” says UNC athletics trainer Chris Hirth. via Goheels.com
