Hand cut Notre Dame, Louisiana State, Florida State, Oklahoma and Ohio State from his list which he cut to ten in December.  Hand at one time held as many as 37 offers from programs around the nation.

Hand is a big time DE prospect and one of the best overall players in the 2014 class and would be a big time get for Larry Fedora if he is able to lure him to Chapel Hill.  At 6-4, 260 pounds Hand is known for his freakish athleticism and his advanced arsenal of moves to get to the quarterback.

Hand is able to overpower and get by blockers with both sound technique and uncanny quickness for a player of his size.  A great tackler with a nose for the football, Hand is one of the best recruits in the entire class and could be an instant force at the collegiate level.

UNC already has one DE committed in the 2014 class Robert Dinkins of Charlotte, NC has already pledged his allegiance to Carolina.  The 2013 class has four DE’s and one DT committed with four star DEs Dajuan Drennon and Nazair Jones leading the way along with three star DE prospects Mikey Bart and Marquis Haynes, Gregg Webb is the lone DT commit is rated as a four star prospect.

He then revealed his #6 choice:

But quickly tweeted he was sticking with his top five:
