UNC Remains Unranked But Two ACC Wins This Week Could Put Them Back in the National Rankings

UNC defeated Maryland to pull even in the ACC with a 2-2 conference record and 12-5 overall on the season.  The MD game was the only contest the Tar Heels played this past week with two games on the schedule this week when the team takes on Georgia Tech at home on Wednesday and heads to in state rival NC State to play the Wolfpack on the road.

The ACC is represented in the top 25 poll with Duke coming in at #1, NC State at #18, Notre Dame at #24 and Miami at #25.  Future ACC members Syracuse comes in at #3 with Louisville at #5.  Carolina did receive three votes on the AP Top 25 which wasn’t nearly enough to find themselves in the rankings but is a positive step in the road back.

This is a huge week for the Tar Heels with what should be a tune up game against Georgia Tech on Wednesday before they head to NC State to play the #18 ranked Wolfpack.  Depending on how things fall around the bottom of the Top 25 if the Heels are able to pick up two wins this week improving their record to 14-5 and 4-2 overall in the conference a top 25 ranking could be in the cards next week.
