Joel Berry Commits to UNC

2014 five star point guard prospect Joel Berry has committed to the University of North Carolina via his twitter account.

Berry just finished up his official visit at UNC this weekend and took in the Carolina vs Maryland game at the Dean Dome. His visit was hosted by PG Marcus Paige and anyone following Berry on twitter could see what a great time he was having in Chapel Hill.

Berry is the first commitment in the 2014 class for North Carolina and a very important one at that with Shelton Mitchell recently committing to Wake Forest and Tyus Jones looking like he is headed elsewhere Roy Williams desperately needed to get the ball rolling on the 2014 class with Joel Berry.

Berry will likely be on the roster with a stacked PG group that will include current freshman Marcus Paige and 2013 prospect Nate Britt who has signed on with Carolina as well.

With Berry now in hand the Tar Heels can turn their attention in the 2014 class to the perimeter where they need to stack up some commitments, only J.P. Tokoto will still be on the roster in 2014 and the Heels did not land a single perimeter prospect in the 2013 class making the need for players at shooting guard and small forward a big one.

Glad to have Berry. Hope we offer Vaughn soon. The kid just scored over 40 points in a game, great SG prospect. Also hope we get Justin Jackson too!
