Joel Berrys Visit to Chapel Hill Very Important for UNC

Joel Berry has touched down in Chapel Hill on his official visit with the Tar Heels.  He will be in attendance for the Maryland vs. UNC game today at noon in the Dean Dome, this visit is critical.

The most vital part to running the fast paced offense Roy Williams employs is the point guard.  The most important position group for the Heels to bring in the 2014 class is the perimeter which means Roy needs to get his PG first and get him soon in order to shift his focus on stocking up with shooting guards and small forwards.

By the time 2014 rolls around the Heels will likely still have two PGs on the roster in Marcus Paige and Nate Britt, but as we saw with the unexpected early departure of Kendall Marshall, it’s best to bring in a PG in each and ever class.   Roy has offered Berry and the top rated player in the class Tyus Jones, the program was watching Shelton Mitchell closely before he committed to Wake Forest when an offer from Carolina never came.  With Jones being tied very closely to other programs such as Duke and Kentucky, Joel Berry is an extremely important get for UNC.

In 2014 only one current perimeter player will remain on the roster, J.P. Tokoto meaning playing time and potential starting positions will be available to incoming freshman.  Roy has offered Justin Jackson, Justise Winslow and Theo Pinson and has also been recruiting Rashad Vaughn, D’Angelo Russell, Grayson Allen and Jalen Lindsey.

Only so many hours exists in a day, and so many days in a year, even less in a recruiting season which is why Roy and his staff need their time free to pursue perimeter players, but first they must secure Berry.  This visit is very important Tar Heel Nation, which is why everyone fan in the stands at today’s game needs to show Berry that we want him here in Chapel Hill.  During stoppages in play, the more “We want Berry” chants, the better.
