Tyler Zeller Rookie Diary
“I’ve been part of the starting lineup lately, which is a huge adjustment. You don’t realize the difference between the starters and the second string. I went from playing a couple minutes to facing off with the starters every night. I am up against the best of the best every night, and I am trying to hold my own as much as possible.” (NBA.com)

Harrison Barnes coming on
Enter the Black Falcon, aka Golden State Warriors forward Harrison Barnes, who has been flapping his rookie wings for a couple of months and finally appears to be catching a draft of wind under his wings to take flight in Fantasyland. On Sunday, Barnes cranked off a career-high 21 points (8-11 FG), 5 3s, 6 boards and a steal against the Denver Nuggets. (ESPN.com)

Leslie McDonald (hopefully) in, Luke Davis out this week
North Carolina coach Roy Williams is hoping to have reserve wing Leslie McDonald — who has missed two straight games because of a sore knee — back for Saturday’s game against Maryland. However, Luke Davis, the Tar Heels’ third string point guard, will be out because of an ankle injury. (ESPN.com)

Findings of Martin Report divide faculty
Administrators are moving forward after the release of results from a campus-wide academic review — but some aren’t satisfied with the Martin Report. Faculty members expressed discontent with one area of the report concerning two meetings of the faculty athletics committee, in 2002 and 2006, at the Faculty Council meeting Friday. (Daily Tar Heel)

UNC DB commit Korrin Wiggins reopens recruitment
The Hillside High School football recruiting well, among the deepest in the state, is developing as many storylines as it is major college prospects this winter. Senior defensive back Korrin Wiggins, who gave a verbal commitment to North Carolina on national signing day in February, remains “committed” to the Tar Heels — at least for now. (Durham Herald-Sun)

Marquez North visits Tennessee
New Volunteers head coach Butch Jones is hoping to make a splash with his first recruiting class in Knoxville, Tenn. Jones could go a long way toward accomplishing that by plucking ESPN 150 wideout target Marquez North (Charlotte, N.C./Mallard Creek) from out of state. Tennessee hosted North on an official visit back on October and it was able to get North back on campus this weekend for an unofficial visit. (ESPN.com)

Duke Loses #1 Spot In This Week’s Rankings, UNC Still Has A Long Ways To Go
Duke dropped their first game of the season falling to 15-1 on the year and dropped from their #1 ranking down to 3rd in this week’s new Top 25 poll. In a divided poll each of the top five teams received at least one vote for the #1 spot. In the end future ACC conference program Louisville tops the charts with 36 first place votes (KIH)
